Eurgh I’ve never wanted to run away and live in a tiny apartment in New York and write poetry all day more - what a beautiful memoir.
Painfully overdue but I can’t express how much joy Tyga Helme’s ‘Soaring Pine’ of gorgeous pastels on paper has brought me while being cooped up at home! Thank you @tygahelme and to @blueshopcottage for the wonderful show last year - visions of Wiltshire countryside seeing me through! 🌿🍃✨💚
‘Packer’s approach to painting reflects her underlying concern with the visible and invisible. The dewy quality of her paint, fluid and seemingly rapidly—and also carefully—applied, make the fleeting nature of life and stories of those like Sandra Bland, so often exiled to the shadowy recesses of history, into something tangible and charged. Her figures are fluid, made of water and air, threatening to slip through the cracks if not paid proper attention.’
Lost in a reverie of the possibilities in paint looking back at these works from Jennifer Packer’s Serpentine show - is there a lovelier way to spend the holidays than musing on these paintings for a review? 🌈
Never was there a more poignant time to see Genieve Figgis’s tongue-in-cheek ‘Imaginary Friends’ at Almine Rech just a few hours before tier 4 swept into London. Aside from their glorious dark humour providing a much needed giggle, these works are gorgeous in their pools of acrylic.
Busy brain happy brain! Treating myself to a few new books that have been on my list for December reading, as traditional Christmas socialising may not be so prevalent this year! Thank you as always to my gorgeous local book shop @nomad_books 💛
